Boxing Commish says more Drug Tests on Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr on top of Olympic Testing

Although things have yet to be finalized, it looks very promising that Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Manny Pacquiao will come off on March 13th. One of the biggest stipulations from the negotiations that have been made public so far, is the Olympic style drug testing that both Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao will go through leading up to their mega event. Both fighters will be subjected to rigorous testing which includes numerous blood samples and urine samples to check for illegal steroids, banned performance enhancements and chemicals.

According to Keith Kizer, the executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, if Mayweather Jr. vs Pacquiao takes place in the state of Nevada, then more drug tests on top of the Olympic style testing will take place.

Quoted recently by the Manila Standard, Kizer, a man respected for his honest care for the welfare of boxers, has no problem with both parties taking blood and urine tests with an outside source, but it will be in addition to drug testing the Nevada State Athletic Commission will require.

Kizer tells the publication in regards to getting additional Olympic style drug testing for both Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. on top of what is required by the NSAC: "The Commission does its own testing. If the boxers want to be tested in addition to the Commission testing, that is up to them."

So basically folks, if the fight takes place in Nevada, and there is a good chance that the MGM Grand in Las Vegas could host this mega event, then on top of the Olympic stlyle drug testing, both Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. will also be subjected (and must comply) to Nevada's drug testing. That's a lot of drug testing and it will be next to impossible for either boxer to cheat the systems in place. Come March 13th, I am willing to bet that both Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. will have the cleanest blood and urine you'll find on any athlete in any sport. I'd be utterly shocked if either fighter tested positive for a banned steroid or substance.
